    Chalky bluestem

    Species: Chalky bluestem
    Scientific Name: Andropogon capillipes
    Cultivars:
    Growth Habit:Bunch type; 3-5 feet tall (when flowering),with long, large plume. Chalky substance on the stems and sheath that rubs off. Inflorescence "fluffy" when dry.
    Life Cycle:Perennial
    Origin:Native to Florida
    Production Season:Warm Season (March to July in South Florida). Seeding from September to November.
    Nutritive Value:Most palatable native grass in Florida.
