    Growth Habit:Prostrate, creeping growing habit; thick, wide, folded leaves rounded at the tips. Flowers adapted for short-range dispersal by water currents

    Origin:Tropical america
    Production Season:March-October
    Nutritive Value:Varies depending on management and variety. Usually, low to medium crude protein, low to medium digestibility.
    Use:Mainly turf grass; grazing, and cover.
    Large acreage in south Florida ranches planted for ornamental market now being used as forage.

    Adaptation

    Soil:Sand to organic Muck. High in moisture does not tolerate flooded conditions
    pH:adapts to a wide range, from 5.0 to 8.5
