Arun Jani won 5th place in the Graduate Student Poster Competition (PhD level) at the 2016 ASA-CSSA-SSSA mettings in Phoenix, AZ. The poster was in the Soil Fertility & Plant Nutrition division. The title of the poster was “Nutrient uptake and partitioning in modern, diverse sesame cultivars in the southeastern USA”.
Sesame is a promising alternative row crop for the southeastern US, but information about nutrient uptake patterns is not available. This information is needed so that farmers can make more informed fertilization decisions. In this study we characterized nitrogen, phosphorus, and potassium uptake and removal with harvest among diverse cultivars recommended for production in Florida.
