Responsibilities of the Department Chair
Position responsibilities include providing programmatic leadership and administrative support to the multi-disciplinary research, extension, and teaching programs of the Agronomy Department. Program leadership is provided for 21 UF/IFAS state faculty located at Gainesville and, through interaction and cooperation with various Center Directors, for 15 UF/IFAS faculty located at seven research and education centers across the state. Specific duties include budgetary and personnel management; faculty recruitment and development; program development and coordination; liaison with state, federal, and international agencies and cooperating units within IFAS and the university; promotion of funding opportunities.
