Research Focus

Research focuses on the breeding/genetic aspects of temperate forage species, particularly the perennial crops alfalfa, white clover, and tall fescue. The techniques employed in the program vary from traditional to biotechnological. Classical breeding techniques are used in phenotypic selection programs for nematode resistance, while recombinant DNA and in vitro culture techniques are used to develop virus resistance plants.
