Dr. Matcham's research program centers data-driven approaches to improving nutrient management. She is interested in identifying management outcomes that maintain crop yields and farm profitability while reducing crop stress and environmental risk in a changing climate.

Before moving to Florida, Dr. Matcham completed her Ph.D. at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. She is originally from Ohio, and did both her BS and MS at The Ohio State University.

Angel Sanchez Zubieta

Postdoc, UF Department of Agronomy

Email: angel.sanchezzub@ufl.edu

Angel is a postdoc at the Matcham Lab. He earned his PhD at the Federal University of Rio Grande do Sul in Brazil. He worked with grazing management and greenhouse gas emissions during his doctorate studies. Currently, his research involves nutrient management in cropping systems. With a goal to incorporate crop and livestock areas into one integrated system, his research focuses on fertilization recommendations for silage corn and hay production with perennial grasses.

Gracelyn is a sugarcane agronomist at U.S. Sugar and a Certified Crop Advisor. Her research is focused on characterizing spatial variability in Florida soils to determine impact on sugarcane yield and quality to develop new fertilization strategies to enhance the Florida sugarcane industry. She earned her B.S. in Agriculture with a concentration in Agribusiness Management from Abraham Baldwin Agricultural College in 2017 and her M.S. in Agronomy with a concentration in Agroecology in 2022.

Edmundo Caballero Espinosa

M.S. Student, UF Department of Agronomy

Email: edmundocaballero@ufl.edu

Edmundo is a master's student in the agronomy department, he is working on the use of foliar fertilizers in peanut cultivation. Before coming to the University of Florida, he worked in Panama as an agronomist in the insurance program for different crops. He completed his bachelor's degree at EARTH University in Costa Rica.

Aadil Rahman

M.S. Student, UF Department of Agronomy

Email: aadil.rahman@ufl.edu

Aadil is a M.S. student in Agronomy with an anticipated graduation in 2025. He began his studies at UF and earned a B.S. in Zoology in 2023. His research primarily focuses on on Zinc toxicity in Florida peanut fields with a goal to improve overall crop management practices for producers in North Central Florida.

He believes that through effective, holistic scientific communication, there is a crucial role in bridging the gap between academia and society.
