Dr. Lyn Gettys

Associate Professor, Weed Science & Invasive Plants

Dr. Gettys conducts research on the aquatic and wetland plants that are found in Florida and the southeastern United States. Her research on invasive species focuses on herbicide efficacy and integrated pest management (IPM) in aquatic systems to identify methods that provide cost-effective and environmentally sound management options. Her research on native plants aims to optimize greenhouse culture and production of these valuable species and to develop techniques that improve establishment of native plants in aquatic restoration and habitat enhancement projects. Knowledge gained from her research program is extended to stakeholders through her extension programs.
